Waterproofing starts below the surface

Substrates, falls and junctions deserve attention before choosing a membrane.

Waterproofing starts below the surface

Trace the water path

Drainage points and falls determine where water travels. Existing ponding, blocked outlets and cracks should be assessed before defining the waterproofing scope. A new membrane alone does not correct an unsuitable roof geometry.

Materials and preparation relating to this work
The existing surface is part of the specification.

Detail the junctions

Parapets, thresholds, penetrations and outlets need compatible details. Confirm which junctions and edge treatments are included. Removal, insulation and correction of falls are separate work items when required.

Record the handover

Agree the inspection method before installation and keep the material identification and maintenance instructions with the project documents. Performance requirements must match the designed system and the site conditions.
